Paid Bicycle Parking

New applicants can place themselves on up to 2 waitlists online for bike locker or cage locations. Waitlists are reviewed regularly and applicants will be sent an offer to purchase when one of their waitlist locations opens up. Please note that lockers and cages do not turn over very often, so you may have a long wait.

Existing renters may renew their locker or cage annually. An offer to renew will be sent in late spring or early summer each year. Existing renters must accept their renewal offer before the included deadline or they may lose their rental spot.

You can view a map of the bike locker and cage locations on campus here. Please contact the UW Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator at 263-2969 or cstrawser@fpm.wisc.edu with any questions.

    Bike Lockers

Any UW-Madison employee or student is eligible to rent a bike locker. Bicycle lockers are individual storage units constructed of a highly durable waterproof material with a security locking system. These features protect a bicycle not only from adverse weather conditions but also deter thieves and vandals. Each locker is approximately 40" W by 75" L by 50" H and contains two separate spaces with one door on each end and a divider in the middle. There is no limit on the amount of time your bike can be stored in the locker. They are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis. Most lockers have a sizeable waitlist. Existing renters are given the right of first refusal for renewals.

To apply to be on a bike locker waitlist please visit the Transportation Services eBusiness portal. When a spot at your waitlist location opens up, you will be sent an offer to purchase online. You may pick up your keys at the WARF building after 11:00 a.m. the next business day after you accept your offer and pay for your purchase online.

    Bike Cages

Any UW-Madison employee or student is eligible to rent space in a bike cage. Bike cages are a great option for bicycle commuters who wish to keep their bicycles and accessories safe, but also for the "intra-campus commuter." If you need an efficient way to get around campus during the day, consider bringing a bike to campus, and storing it a bike cage! There is no limit on the amount of time your bike can be stored, which also makes the cage a great option for students who don't want to have to bring their bikes home for the winter.

Bicycle cages are shared storage areas, typically found inside parking ramps, with a secure locking system and protection from the weather. Cages protect a bicycle not only from adverse weather conditions but also deter theft or vandalism. Space in the bike cages is available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis.
