Summer 2025 Construction Forecast

Several current and planned construction projects will affect campus-area travel this summer.

(A) UW Hospital and Clinics D2 Module

Lot 133 closed through 2026.

(B) Nielsen Tennis Stadium Roof Replacement

Lot 82 will partially close.

(C) Highland Avenue Sewer Project (Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District)

This is a three-stage project that will last from May 12 through early September.

In stage 1 the westbound off-ramp from Campus Dr. to Highland Ave. will close.

In stage 2, both Campus Dr. westbound off- and on-ramps will close and southbound Highland Ave. will close from the UW Hospital parking ramp to Campus Dr.

In stage 3, Highland Ave. and the Campus Dr. off-ramp will reopen, and the on-ramp will remain closed until the project is completed.

(D) Walnut Street Cable Replacement Project

Walnut St. will fully close for a weekend in mid-May.

Detour is Linden Dr. via Lot 59 and Observatory Dr.

(E) Veterinary Medicine Addition

Linden Dr. permanently closed from Easterday Ln. to Colwood Dr. Use Willow Creek Bridge to access Vet Diagnostic Lab.

Intersection of Colwood Dr. and Linden Dr. closed.

(F) Near East Play Fields

Be aware of large truck deliveries entering at Willow Dr. and exiting on to Elm Dr. during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Willow Dr. east sidewalk and Elm Dr. west sidewalk closed to pedestrian traffic.

(G) Camp Randall Sports Center Replacement

Sidewalks east and south of Camp Randall Sports Center (SHELL) closed to pedestrian traffic.

Northeast section of Lot 18 permanently closed.

(H) Engineering Drive Utilities Replacement and Renovation

Randall Ave. is closed south of Engineering Dr. Access to and from Engineering Dr. is only available from Randall Ave. / W. Johnson St. intersection. Follow posted detours.

Many walkways surrounding the Engineering Research Building are closed.

Sidewalk on the north side of Engineering Dr. is closed from Lot 114 to the Engineering Research Building.

A protected accessible pedestrian detour travels along an existing sidewalk through the work zone located between the Engineering Research Building and 1410 Engineering Drive.

Additional detours encircling the work zone designated along Engineering Dr., N Randall Ave., Campus Dr., and the walkway between the Mechanical Engineering Building and Engineering Centers Building.

Lot 114 permanently closed.

(J) Morgridge Hall Construction (New School of Computer, Data, and Informational Sciences Building)

Southern lane of University Ave. closed from Park St. to  Orchard St. Protected temporary walkway and bike path available around work area.

Northern lane of W Johnson St. traffic lane and sidewalk closed from N Orchard St. to N Charter St. Protected walkway available on W Johnson St. around work area.

(K) Dayton Street Chilled Water Valve Replacement

Eastbound lane of Dayton St. and southern sidewalk closed.

Detour via Mills St.

(L) Irving and Dorothy Levy Hall Construction (Letters and Science Academic Building)

Southern lane of W. Johnson St. closed from Davis Residence Hall to N. Park St.

Southbound bicycle lane of N. Park St closed from W. Johnson St. to Clymer Pl.

Sidewalks maintained and protected from traffic.

Clymer Pl. closed from Bernard Ct. to N Park St.

Lot 61 and Lot 112 permanently closed.

(M) Grainger Hall First Floor Dining Expansion

Brooks Street fully closed from W Johnson St. to Conklin Pl.

Left lane closures on W Johnson St. from Brooks St. to N. Park St. during off-peak travel times (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Left lane closures on southbound N. Park St. between University Ave. and W. Johnson St.

(N) State/Lake St. Parking Garage Development (City of Madison)

Single northbound lane of N. Lake St. closed from University Ave. to State St.

Southbound lane of N. Lake St. will remains open.

Protected temporary walkway and bike path available around work area.
