Transportation Services works with stakeholders at UW Hospitals and Clinics to communicate project impacts to employees, patients and visitors.
Permit holders will also receive email notifications with relevant project updates.
How you can help
- Follow marked detours in the garage.
- Do not park in or walk through blocked-off areas.
- Do not move cones or caution tape.
- Drive carefully and watch for workers.

Critical work to maintain garage structural integrity and safety.
Protective fencing installation | October through December 2025
Protective fencing to help prevent falls will be installed on the upper levels of the parking structure.

Elevator repair and modernization | January through May 2026
The west main elevator (#1) will receive a new hydraulic jack. Both elevators will be modernized.
There will only be one elevator available on the west side of the parking garage during this project. Most ADA accessible parking has been relocated to Level 1 to reduce elevator waiting times.
The lower level exit will be reduced to one drive lane.
Color-coded wayfinding painting | Spring 2026
A system of colors and symbols will be painted on each level to assist patients and visitors remember where they parked.
Stairwell and lobby climate control | April through July 2026
Heating and cooling systems will be installed in the main west stairwells and elevator lobbies.
