The 2025 Crazylegs Classic is Saturday, April 26. Two different courses (8K and 2 mile) will travel through campus, causing lane closures and Metro Transit detours. Anticipate delays in the campus area from approximately 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The City of Madison Police Department and UW–Madison Police Department will direct and adjust closures on a rolling schedule as the final participants move through an area.
Each course will begin at Library Mall/Lake Street and finish inside Camp Randall Stadium. Several streets on the UW–Madison campus will be closed or reduced to one lane. Impacted campus streets include:
- Breese Terrace
- Charter Street between Dayton Street and Observatory Drive
- Dayton Street between Randall Avenue and Frances Street
- East Campus Mall south of Dayton Street
- Lake Street north of University Avenue
- Langdon Street between Park Street and Carroll Street
- Lathrop Drive
- Marsh Drive between University Bay Drive and Walnut Street
- Observatory Drive except west of Walnut Street
- Orchard Street between Dayton and Spring Street
- Park Street north of University Avenue
- Randall Avenue between Dayton and Monroe Street
- Spring Street between Randall Avenue and Mills Street
- University Avenue between Breese Terrace and Walnut Street
- Walnut Street between Marsh Drive and University Avenue
Madison Metro Route 80 will detour on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Route C will skip westbound stops along University Avenue, from Breese Terrace through Walnut Street. Details are available at Metro’s detour information page.
Pedestrians and bikes using the Southwest Path between W. Washington Avenue and N. Orchard Street should seek an alternate path or use caution and walk their bikes as runners will be using the path from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
UW Veterinary Medicine patients should head north on Highland Avenue and then turn right onto Observatory Drive. Next, make a right turn into Lot 64 (WARF Building) and drive through the lot to the Walnut Street exit located at the lot’s southeastern corner. An officer will direct vehicles across Walnut Street when it is safe to proceed.
Parking permit holders coming to campus on Saturday morning should expect traffic delays and detours. See the chart below for impacted lots and relocation instructions.
