Due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 27, there will be reduced bus and shuttle service, waived campus parking restrictions and Transportation Services office closures.
Reduced Metro Transit bus service
Madison Metro Transit will run reduced service schedules on Thursday and Friday, including campus bus routes:
- Route 80 will run a weekend recess schedule.
- Routes 81, 82, and 84 will not have service.

Reduced shuttle service
There will also be reduced service for UW campus shuttles:
- The UW accessible circulator shuttle will not operate Thursday or Friday.
- UW park and ride lot 202 close Thursday and there will be no shuttle service. Shuttle service will resume Friday.
- UW remote lot 204 and park & ride lot 206 will remain open Thursday, but there is no shuttle service. Shuttle service will resume Friday.
Waived parking restrictions
Transportation Services will waive some campus parking restrictions during Metro Transit’s service reductions:
Thursday, November 27
Parking permits are not enforced on Thanksgiving.
Friday, November 28
Campus parking garages / ramps will be under normal weekday operation with permit or payment required.
- Permit holders assigned to garages / ramps will be able to enter and exit as usual.
- Flex permit holders will be charged for parking in assigned garages.
- Visitors must pull a ticket and pay upon exit.
Permits will not be required in most surface lots.
- Flex permit holders do not have to be in paid status with ParkMobile.
- Parking in surface lots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in permit parking stalls.
- If no parking stalls are open, please proceed to another lot.
Saturday, November 25
Regular parking enforcement will resume.
Exceptions to waived parking restrictions
- Lots 11, 23, and 38, and Lots 74, 82 and 95 near University Hospital, will require lot-specific permits.
- Restricted parking areas, including access aisles, fire lanes, and no parking zones, are always enforced.
- UW Disabled stalls require either a UW Accessible permit or State DOT Disabled permit/plate.
