Parking and traffic info for 2026 WIAA state tournaments: Feb. 26-28, March 19-21

WIAA state tournament season is nearly here! The UW–Madison campus will host more than 125,000 visitors at the Kohl Center for the following events:

  • Thursday through Saturday, February 26-28: Individual Wrestling
  • Thursday through Saturday, March 19-21: Boys’ Basketball

UW–Madison permit holders have helped make previous tournaments a success. We need their help again to make this year’s tournaments as welcoming as possible for athletes, parents, and spectators. This is a memorable experience for visitors traveling from all corners of the state and permit holders’ cooperation is greatly valued and appreciated.

WIAA visitors and spectators: use the WIAA website for tournament-specific parking details.

Affected UW permit holders will receive specific parking and relocation information by email approximately one week before each event. General information is listed below.

Affected lots and permit holder relocation

Traffic and alternative transportation method options

You can expect heavy traffic on and around campus during WIAA tournaments, especially during peak commuting times. This can be especially true in areas of ongoing campus construction. Please allow yourself plenty of time to park on campus. You may wish to explore active or alternative transportation methods during the tournament dates. Some options include carpooling, biking, or taking the bus.

Permit holders can avoid congestion on the Thursday and Friday tournament dates by parking off campus in Lot 204 (3500 University Avenue) or Lot 206 (Aberg and Packers Avenue). Free shuttles run between these lots and designated campus stops. You must display your annual permit while parked.
