Madison Marathon to restrict campus roads on November 12

The 2023 Madison Marathon is Sunday, Nov. 12. The full marathon route travels through parts of downtown Madison and the UW-Madison campus.

Campus traffic delays are anticipated from approximately 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The UW–Madison Police Department will assist with traffic routing in the areas affected by the course. No campus roads are closed entirely. Full road access will reopen on a rolling basis as the final runners clear an area.

Lot 26 will be closed on Sunday to ensure Observatory Drive is open enough for the race. Permit holders can park in Lot 34 (near Tripp Hall) if needed. Please note travel in and out of these areas may be difficult on Sunday morning.

Madison Metro Transit routes A, B, C, D, E, J, O and 80 will detour until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. A full list of affected routes with detour maps can be found on the Metro Transit detour page.
