Thousands of visitors are expected between August 24 and 28 for UW Housing move-in and Thursday evening Badger football.
In addition, several roadways are restricted due to construction work.
These conditions will make it more challenging than usual to drive through campus.
For some, biking, busing or other alternative travel modes may be preferable to driving. Learn about free and low-cost commuter resources available to employees, students and visitors.

Travel impacts due to fall construction projects

Multiple construction zones will affect campus travel for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists heading into the fall semester. Here are the highlights:
Central Campus
N. Randall Avenue closed in both directions between W. Johnson Street & W. Dayton Street.
- Engineering Drive will only be accessible from the north, via University Avenue or W. Johnson Street. Vehicles heading in from the south may detour along W. Dayton Street and N. Charter Street to reach University Avenue.
Construction around Engineering Drive continues to affect all travel modes.
- Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists should use ample caution when traveling on or around Engineering Drive.
- Pedestrians should use designated sidewalks and crossings, and not walk in roadways or cross in the middle of the street.
- Motorists should proceed with caution and watch for pedestrians.

East Campus
Right turns onto N. Park Street from W. Johnson may be challenging for motorists and cyclists. The far-right lane of W. Johnson Street is closed. The bicycle lane on N. Park Street is also closed from W. Johnson Street to W. Dayton Street.
- Cyclists turning right onto or traveling southbound on N. Park Street should use caution and merge into the traffic lane. Alternatively, people on bicycles can avoid this area by using Brooks Street, East Campus Mall or N. Lake Street.
- Motorists should drive with caution and watch for cyclists and pedestrians.
- People on foot should use protected walkways and follow any detour signage on site.
