Madison Mini-Marathon to restrict campus roads on August 18

The Madison Mini-Marathon will reroute traffic on parts of campus on Saturday, Aug. 18.  UWPD will be on hand to assist with traffic rerouting in the areas the courses pass through. Expect traffic delays between 7 a.m. and noon. Roads will reopen on a rolling basis as the final runners clear an area.

Various parking lots along the routes will be impacted, with traffic in and out of the facilities temporarily inhibited based on the number of runners. UWPD will direct traffic in and out of lots as possible. Please expect delays. You can reference the Madison Mini-Marathon–UW Campus map (PDF) to see which roads will have detours or one-way traffic. Some of the most heavily impacted lots are:

  • Lot 5 (by the Law Building and Chadbourne) will be inaccessible from the main entrance/exit on the east, but can be accessed off of N. Charter Street by crossing through Lot 115.
  • Lot 6 (H.C. White Garage) and Lot 8 (by Limnology) will have limited access during the races, as N. Park Street from University Avenue to Langdon Street will be closed. UWPD officers will direct exiting vehicles in the best direction of travel.
  • Lot 60 and 76 are currently impacted by a repaving project on University Bay Drive. Traffic headed toward University Bay Drive will be directed around Lot 60 in the inner lane of Willow Drive (connects Walnut Street to University Bay Drive). Runners will use the outer lane.
  • See the campus maps page for alternate parking options. Base lot, Flex, afternoon, and night surface permits are valid in any green (controlled 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) or yellow (controlled at all times) lot. Flex users must pay with their assigned lot code if parked in a “controlled at all times” lot.

Some Madison Metro bus routes will detour on August 18, including Routes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13 and campus Route 80. Full detour information available on the Madison Metro website.

Full event, course, and road restriction details are on the Madison Mini-Marathon website.
