Know your options
Parking on the UW-Madison campus is in high demand. Applying for a permit is not a guarantee you will receive one, and waiting lists can be long.
We encourage everyone to consider alternatives to driving alone to campus whenever possible. Our Commuter Solutions programs support many types of commutes, including:
- Park & ride lots with free shuttle service
- Active transportation (such as bicycling or riding the bus)
- Ridesharing (carpools and vanpools)
One or more of these options may also serve as a backup plan if your parking application is placed on a waiting list.
Bus passes and renewals available in August
University employees who currently hold an employee bus pass will be able to renew their pass online between August 1-31.
UW Health employees do not need to renew their bus passes in August: these passes will renew automatically.
Students who already have a bus pass will not need to renew their pass or pick up a new one. Student bus passes are valid until you graduate (including the summer or winter break after graduation). Pick-up locations will be available at the beginning of the fall term for students who want a bus pass.
