Construction impacts affect traffic and pedestrian routes on University Avenue

**Update, November 12, 2021: The start of this project has moved from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19.**

Construction related to the Bascom-Lathrop utility project will impact traffic lanes and pedestrian-bicycle routes on University Avenue. The two northern traffic lanes, northern bike lane, and sidewalk of University Avenue between N. Mills Street and N. Charter Street will be closed. The closure starts November 19 and is expected to last until March 2022.

A protected temporary walkway will direct pedestrians around the work site between Mills Street and Charter Street.

The northern bike lane on University Avenue will be shifted south and remain a dedicated bike lane.

Detour signage will be placed around the work site to direct pedestrians and cyclists. Please stay on marked detour paths.

Madison Metro Transit buses will remain on regular routes throughout the closure.

Motorists may choose an alternate route to avoid congestion on University Avenue.
