Update 3/12/20 – The WIAA Boys Basketball tournament will have limited attendance and no general admissions. This is in accordance with policies and guidance from public health organizations and the World Health Organization for mass gatherings. Please see the official WIAA news release and UW news release for more details. Stay tuned to wiaawi.org for the most up-to-date details. Please note: the Alliant Energy Center shuttle has been canceled, but on-campus parking will be available for athletic teams and select attendees.
WIAA state tournament season is upon us again! The UW-Madison campus will host more than 125,000 visitors for:
- Individual Wrestling — February 27 – 29
- Boys Basketball — March 19 – 21
UW-Madison permit holders have helped make previous tournaments a success and we’re asking for your help again to make this year’s tournaments as accessible as possible for the athletes, parents, and spectators. This is a memorable experience for these visitors traveling from all corners of the state and your cooperation is greatly valued and appreciated.
WIAA visitors and spectators–use the WIAA website for tournament-specific parking details.
Affected permit holders will receive specific parking information via email between February 20 and 21, with a reminder before the March tournament dates.
Affected lots and permit holder relocation
Lots 29, 46, 48, 78, 91, and 94 will be staffed 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. on tournament days. On March 20 and 21 staffing starts one hour earlier, at 6 a.m.
- Annual permit holders (base lot, Flex) in Lots 46, 78, 91, and 94 must relocate on the above tournament dates.
- Lots 29 and 83 will also be used for visitor parking but permit holder relocation is not required. Alternate lots are provided for those who wish to avoid traffic congestion.
For those who park in an alternate lot on campus, the fare-free campus Route 80 bus can help get you where you need to go.
Note: All Flex users must use their assigned lot code when starting a session, even if they are parked in a different lot.

Traffic and alternative transportation method options
Traffic during WIAA tournaments can be heavy, especially during peak commuting times. This can be especially true in areas of ongoing campus construction projects. If you are able, you may wish to explore alternate transportation methods during the tournament dates. Some options include carpooling, biking, or taking the bus.
