Holiday Impacts (Office Hours, Bus) – December 2020 and January 2021

The legal holidays on December 24-25, December 31, January 1, and January 18 will cause  Transportation Services office closures and a reduction in services for Madison Metro Transit.

Customer service offices

Only the WARF customer service office will be open December 21-23 and 28-30; hours of service will be 7:15 a.m. – 4 p.m.

All offices are closed December 24, 25, 31 and January 1. Regular office hours for WARF and 21 N. Park locations resume Monday, Jan. 4.

All offices are closed Monday, Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Regular office hours for WARF and 21 N. Park locations resume Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Bus Service

Campus bus routes (80, 81, 82, 84)

Campus routes 80 and 84 are currently running on a recess schedule (no 81, 82). The trailer school bus vehicles do not run during recess service. Recess service is in effect until Sunday, January 24.

No campus routes (80, 81, 82, 84) operate December 24, 25, 31 and January 1. Route 80 and 84 operate on a recess weekday schedule on Monday, Jan. 18 even though it is UW legal holiday.

Other Madison Metro Transit Routes

Regular Madison Metro weekday service will be available until 6 p.m. on December 24; all standing paratransit rides are cancelled after 6 p.m. Metro buses will operate on a holiday schedule December 25 and January 1. All standing paratransit rides are cancelled December 25 and January 1; paratransit passengers must schedule casual rides to travel.

Metro operates on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Jan. 18 due to reduced ridership. Check the Metro Transit holidays service page for more details.

Other Transportation Services operations

Other operations impacted by the holidays:

  • Accessible circulator shuttle service was suspended for the fall as of Thursday, Nov. 26. Service will resume the first day of spring classes, Monday, Jan. 25.
  • University Bicycle Resource Center (UBRC) is closed for the fall and spring semesters. Online classes will be available for the spring and the video recordings of the fall classes are available on YouTube; registration information and recording links are available on the University Bicycle Resource Center webpage.
  • UW park and ride locations: Lot 202 is closed December 24 – January 1. Lot 203 is closed December 24, 25, 31 and January 1, and open December 28-30. Both locations reopen and shuttle service resumes on January 4. Both locations are closed and no shuttle service January 18; they reopen and service resumes January 19.
  • SAFEwalk will be closed December 20 – January 10. Service will begin again January 11.
