Ironman 2023 to cause campus area traffic detours
The Wisconsin Ironman event is Sunday, Sept. 10 and consists of routes traveling through the Madison area and UW–Madison campus. The marathon course passes through much of campus and will cause detours and delays. Runners are anticipated on the course from 11 a.m. to midnight.
Charter Street, Linden Drive construction impacts begin May 22
Two utility projects will begin Monday, May 22 with work expected to last into August. Detours will be necessary for northbound travel on N. Charter Street (between University Avenue and Linden Drive) and westbound travel on Linden (between Babcock Drive and Elm Drive).
Shamrock Shuffle races, Walnut Street closure to impact travel on campus
The Shamrock Shuffle 5K/10K events will go through parts of campus on Saturday, March 11. And beginning March 11, Walnut Street will be closed south of Linden Drive due to railroad bridge repair work. Traffic will detour to Highland Avenue through March 19.
Supplemental Route 80 shuttle to operate weekdays through May 12
To help alleviate campus bus crowding, a supplemental Route 80 shuttle will operate weekdays during the spring semester. The shuttle will arrive approximately every 20 minutes at Route 80 bus stops along the central campus loop; it does not serve Eagle Heights.

Some parking restrictions waived Nov. 25; changes to bus service
The legal holiday of Thanksgiving will cause a reduction in services for Madison Metro Transit, including campus bus routes. Some parking restrictions will be waived to accommodate bus riders unable to easily travel to campus during the reduced service.
Observatory Drive and Linden Drive closures to impact travel
Update, October 31: Due to construction issues, a stretch of eastbound Observatory Drive near Ingraham Hall and the Sewell Social Science Building will remain closed until November 17. Part of Linden Drive between Agriculture Hall and the Microbial Sciences Building is also closed in both directions for several weeks.
