Update: SAFEwalk winter break hours have changed. There will be no service on January 8 due to weather, or January 15 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
The legal holidays on December 25, January 1, and January 15 will cause Transportation Services office closures, reduced Madison Metro Transit service, and other transportation service reductions. There will be additional Transportation Services office closures due to construction in the WARF Building.

December 20, 2023: The WARF and 21 N. Park Street offices will be open from 8 – 11 a.m. and 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. (These offices will be closed from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for staff training.) The AFCH office will be open for regular business hours, from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
December 21, 2023: All offices open for regular business hours. Customers picking up parking permits after purchase may do so at 21 N. Park Street only through January 10, 2024. Check your purchase receipt for pick-up instructions.
December 22, 2023: The WARF and 21 N. Park Street offices will be open from 7:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The AFCH office will be open from 7:15 – 11 a.m.
December 25, 2023: All Transportation Services offices will be closed.
December 26 through December 29, 2023: The 21 N. Park Street office will be open from 7:15 a.m. – 4 p.m. The WARF and AFCH offices will be closed.
January 1, 2024: All Transportation Services offices will be closed.
January 2, 2024: All Transportation Services offices will reopen and regular business hours will resume.
January 15, 2024: All Transportation Services offices will be closed.
Campus bus service (Routes 80, 81, 82, and 84)

Other Madison Metro Transit routes
Regular Madison Metro weekday service will be available until 6 p.m. on December 24. All standing paratransit rides are canceled after 6 p.m.
Metro buses will operate a holiday schedule December 25, January 1, and January 15. All standing paratransit rides are canceled: paratransit passengers must schedule casual rides to travel.
Other transit operations
- Accessible circulator shuttle service is suspended from December 22, 2023 through January 22, 2024. Service resumes January 23, 2024.
- The University Bicycle Resource Center will be closed December 25, 2023 and January 1, 2024. The UBRC will be open over the winter holidays with a reduced schedule. Click here for UBRC hours.
- SAFEwalk offices are closed and there is no service from December 22, 2023 through January 2, 2024. SAFEwalk offices will also be open during winter break on these dates:

- UW park and ride Lot 202 is closed and there is no shuttle service December 25, 2023 through January 1, 2024. The lot will reopen and shuttle service will resume January 2, 2024.
