Madison Metro will launch a completely new system of bus routes, stops, and schedules June 11, 2023. UW Madison campus community members are encouraged to check mymetrobus.com to learn how the new system will impact individual commutes.
Charter Street, Linden Drive construction impacts begin May 22
Two utility projects will begin Monday, May 22 with work expected to last into August. Detours will be necessary for northbound travel on N. Charter Street (between University Avenue and Linden Drive) and westbound travel on Linden (between Babcock Drive and Elm Drive).
2023-24 department, service/vendor, and reserved stall applications open May 10
Applications will be accepted for 2023-24 department limited permits, service/vendor permits, and reserved parking stalls beginning May 10. The deadline to apply for early consideration is June 9. Applications will be accepted after June 9 and processed in later rounds of parking offers. Permit and reserved stall availability may become limited after the early consideration deadline.
Crazylegs Classic 2023 Campus Traffic Impacts
Two race/walk courses will travel through campus on Saturday, April 29, causing lane closures and Metro Transit detours. Expect delays between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Observatory Drive closure near Bascom Hall, April 24-May 4
The eastbound lane of Observatory Drive will close between Charter Street and Bascom Hall to accommodate utility work. Vehicles traveling eastbound will detour to Charter Street. The westbound lane will remain open until May 4, when a one-day closure is planned for both lanes. The area is expected to fully reopen May 5.

Transportation Services announces 2023-24 parking rates and program changes
Parking rates and program changes for the 2023-24 parking year have been approved and released. Many parking permits and passes will see a 1% price increase. The hourly rate to qualify for the reduced cost parking program will increase from $18.35 to $18.72 per hour.
University Avenue construction to cause commute impacts beginning April 10
A City of Madison project to reconstruct University Avenue will resume April 10, causing traffic, bus, bike, and pedestrian impacts between University Bay Drive and Shorewood Boulevard. Expect delays and plan ahead.
