More campus roadway closures beginning June 6; Observatory Drive closure June 11-13
Multiple construction projects will cause additional lane closures and detours impacting pedestrians, bicycles, buses, and vehicles traveling to, from, and on the UW-Madison campus throughout the summer months.
Road closures and detours starting the week of May 16
Upcoming construction projects will cause lane closures on Charter Street, Walnut Street, and University Avenue/University Bay Drive. The closures impact vehicles, bicycles, buses, and pedestrians traveling to and from campus.
Crazylegs Classic 2022 Campus Traffic Impacts
The 2022 Crazylegs Classic is Saturday, April 30. Two courses will travel through campus, causing lane closures and Metro Transit detours. Anticipate delays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Shamrock Shuffle detours – 3/12/22
The Shamrock Shuffle 5K/10K event will go through parts of campus on Saturday, March 12, 2022. UWPD will control traffic along the route, which will include significant closures on Observatory Drive.
Construction impacts affect traffic and pedestrian routes near Charter St. and Lathrop Dr.
Expect motor vehicle, transit, and cycling detours as Charter Street near Chamberlain Hall will close through late January. A section of western Lathrop Street closes December 20, meaning no thru traffic on the road.
Madison Marathon to restrict campus roads on November 14
The Madison Marathon is Sunday, Nov. 14 and the route travels through parts of downtown Madison and the UW-Madison campus. Expect detours and delays from approximately 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Construction impacts affect traffic and pedestrian routes on University Avenue
Starting November 15, construction will impact traffic lanes and pedestrian-bicycle routes on University Avenue between Mills and Charter Streets. Work is expected to last until March 2022.
Ironman 2021 to cause campus area traffic detours
Expect detours and delays on campus and in the Madison area on Sunday, Sept. 12 for Ironman Wisconsin. The marathon route impacts several campus roads between 11:30 a.m. and midnight.
Construction impacts affect pedestrian and traffic routes near Sellery Hall and East Campus Mall
Construction work on Sellery Hall and a steam utility project south of Johnson Street will impact traffic lanes and heavily utilized pedestrian-bicyclist routes—including East Campus Mall—during the 2021-22 fall semester.
