Updates on some ongoing projects affecting campus traffic flow and details on new lane closures starting July 1.
Upcoming road closures and detours – June 24
Construction season is in full force! Several projects affecting campus roads (Dayton, Linden) are anticipated to start June 24.
Northbound access closed through Mills/Dayton intersection
Northbound access through the intersection of Mills Street and Dayton Street will close starting June 17. Southbound access is available. The closure will last approximately six weeks.
Additional Dayton Street and Charter Street lane closures start May 29
Starting May 29 and continuing for approximately one month, Charter Street from Dayton Street to Johnson Street will be northbound only and Dayton Street from Orchard Street to Charter Street will be eastbound only.
Observatory Drive westbound only from Bascom Hall to Charter Street
Observatory Drive between Charter Street and Bascom Hall/Lot 11 is westbound traffic only starting May 20. The closure is expected to last about two weeks.
Dayton Street closures between Charter Street and Park Street
A steam tunnel project will cause closures on W. Dayton Street from Charter to Mills Street, then Mills to Park Street. Route 80 buses and other vehicle traffic will detour. Project starts April 8 and will last through November 2019.
Vilas Hall and Chemistry Building Flooding
East sidewalk access on North Park Street between Johnson Street and University Avenue is closed 2/4 and 2/5 due to flooding issues.
Willow Creek-Linden St. pedestrian/bicycle bridge closed
The Willow Creek pedestrian-bicycle bridge connecting to Linden Drive is closed until further notice. Detour using other nearby Willow Creek bridges.
Madison Marathon to cause detours, delays on November 11
The Madison Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 11 will travel through downtown Madison and a section of the UW-Madison campus. Bus route detours are in place and delays should be expected.
